My 19 year old daughter has taken MTX at diffterent times during her 15 year battle with JRA related uveitis with no problem (orally and sub-cu). She currently
takes 25mg orally weekly, and has been doing this for approximately 1 year. Three weeks ago, after taking her dose, she woke up the following morning with
chills, headache, fever, and nausea. It happened again the following week. Her rhuematologist suggested lowering her dosage to 20 mg, taking four tabs in the
morning and four at night. Five hours after taking the four tabs, she was sick again. She never took the other four. Her uveitis has been stable for over a
year, with occasional cells. Prior to taking MTX orally, she was injecting it. She switched back to tabs last summer when traveling in Europe and has been
taking them ever since. She doesn't think she will be diligent in doing injections when she goes back to college. Her other meds are: Remicade every five
weeks, Predforte- once per day, Diamox, Alphagan, and Cosopt. What are your thoughts on this? Is there something she could take to replace the MTX?
