cold with uveitis

Posts: 22 (10/05/08 07:37) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dear Dr. Foster, My son has had uveitis for 3 years and has been on cyclosporin and cellcept for the past 2 years. He has been flare free for the past year. He has developed a cold that has lasted for a week and I am looking for information about what he can take to help get over it (either over the counter or under a doctor's prescription). Also, are there any special precautions he needs to take? Thanks so much

Posts: 760 (10/06/08 05:51) Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I generally allow my patients to take whatever they typically take that makes them feel better whenever they have a cold. But you must ask this question of your child's doctors rather than to me, since they are the ones "driving the bus" with his health care. I also suggest to my patients that they stop their immunosuppressents for a week or so if their cold is especially severe or stubborn. Finally, many of my patients have a little flare up of their uveitis whenever they get sick, probably because the immune system gets revved up to fight the infection. csf C. Posts: 5 (10/22/08 02:11) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dear Dr. Foster, I also have a similar question with the topic. 1) Do you think it is neccessary that a girl takes Fred drops again when she has a little flare up and kp during she are cold, meanwhile she are taking the immunosuppressents. 2) If stopping immunosuppressents one week or so, are there any problems for the therepay effectives? Thanks so much!
