My son was off all steroid drops and had been flare free for 18 months on MTX starting @ 20mg. He was tapered down to 5mg for the last 2months and the last check up had 1+ cells in both eyes. We kept him on the 5mg dose of mtx plus pred forte over the last four weeks and he is down to trace cells.
The Dr wants to switch him to cellcept at this point. My question is if the MTX keep him cell free until we tapered him to 5mg week why not increase it to 10mg a week. That dose seemed to keep it under control. To start him on cellcept to see if it works seems premature to me when the MTX did do the job at a certain dose.
