Dear Dr. Foster,
My 6 year old daughter has JRA associated bilateral anterior uveitis. She has been on topical steroids for about 6 months. Her cell count has ranged from trace to 4+, usually different in each eye, at any given doctors appointment since November.
Last week, the doctor started her on MTX and Naproxen. I have read your "step-ladder" algorithmic approach where NSAIDs would be used before trying MTX. I was not given that option. Is it okay to go right to MTX without trying NSAIDs alone? Should I stop the MTX and see if the Naproxen works? Or, should I stop the Naproxen and see if the MTX works?
Thank you for your time.
Susanna
