My daughter was diagnosed with JRA and chronic Uveitis when she was 2 ½ years old. When she was diagnosed, she already had cataracts in both eyes. She had cataract removal and vitretomy in both eyes and numerous steroid injections in both eyes. From day one she started MTX, Folic Acid, Pred Forte, and Atropine. The MTX was working but if she missed a dose due to infection she would get inflammation right away. She started Cyclosporine but we had the same problem, she is real sensitive and she would get inflammation. Her rheumatologist started with remacaide infusions in conjunction with MTX but she still had some inflammation and I am still inserting 6x day pred forte, she already started with glaucoma on left and she is being treated with cospot.
At this point my daughter is 8 years old, she is under treatment for about 6 years and I am not seeing a remission yet. Her rheumatologist is thinking on cellcept or chlorambucil next. Any suggestions???? Every time that the ophthalmologist try to cut back in pred forte eye drops she gets flare up.
