Dr. Foster,
My daughter is given Humira injections every other week. To date she has only had 3 injections.
My daughter also receives MTX injections every friday.
Up until we started Humira, my 2 year old daughter never cried during administration of her shots nor her bloodwork ups. Since her first two injections of Humira went so terribly, stopping and starting injection 3 times, difficulty holding her down, screaming, kicking... you get the idea. We tried the third injection with an ultra fine needle gauge 29. I mentioned this to my Rheumatologist on our last visit and he was not sure it was ok to do. He is looking into this.
My question is do you have any thoughts on using a 29 gauge needle or should we stick with what we use with her MTX which is 27. The 29 gauge shot went extemely well and while yes screaming and crying, it just didn't seem as painful for her to get through and we didn't have to stop and start since she was not kicking.
Could a smaller gauge needle compromise the medicine in any way to make it less effective?
